HOW OUR STATIONS WORK
Unity Biofuels (UB) Fuel Stations are better than regular gas stations not only because of the fuel offered, but also because of the way we distribute the fuel. Typical gas stations purchase pre-blended gas from fuel terminals. Currently, UB purchases their ethanol from Big River Resources in West Burlington, IA. UB also purchases the gasoline from local businesses. The gasoline and ethanol are unblended when purchased and placed into separate tanks at each station. Each pump mixes the fuels to the selected blend when the customer is at the pump, saving unnecessary mark-ups.
In addition, oil companies receive a Federal Blending Credit of .45 cents for every gallon of ethanol they mix with gasoline as an incentive. UB's philosophy is, when the customer uses the pump, they are doing the blending, thus they should receive the credit. As an example, when a customer chooses Unleaded Plus (gasoline blended with 10% ethanol), they receive 10% of the blending credit - or 4.5 cents off every gallon.
By being more efficient in the way fuels are delivered, not only are we using less gas and creating less pollution, but more of the money spent at the pump can stay at home and in the pockets of the customer.
